Backlinks and Referring Domain Tips

In case you missed @SteveBaileySEO Tweets on Back-links / Referring Domain here they are:

  • One of the primary ranking factors is still the number of referring domains (backlinks) pointing to your site.
  • Each different website that links to a website, or a specific page on your site is considered a single referring domain.
  • In past posts I used the term Domain Backlinks. Referring Domain is another way to say it. (a link from their website pointing at yours)
  • Good to have a mix of high and low authority sites. All high authority backlinks look like its been unnaturally managed for SEO ranking.
  • Are backlinks as important as good on-page structure? Trick question.. Backlinks build on top of a good foundation of on-page SEO.
  • Some backlinks have more authority than others. In general, the Better Business Bureau backlink is more important than your friends blog.
  • One of the primary ranking factors is still the number of referring domains (backlinks) pointing to your site.
  • The goal is to build the total number of domain backlinks from quality sources, such as industry, or consumer interest groups.
  • Domains pointing to your site in SEO are called Backlinks. Count each domain as 1 backlink no matter how many times they link to you.
  • Do you know how many domains are pointing to your site? You should. it’s an indicator of relevance to Google.
