Google Voice for Ipad is Here!

Calling all Google Voice fans! No, we are not REALLY calling you …

Anyway,  I have some great news for you. A new version of Google Voice is now compatible with your Ipad or Ipod Touch. For those who do not know what Google Voice is, let me explain. It is a PC to PC or PC to voice service that allows you to call people (in the USA) free of charge. You are able to call from either your computer or phone, and video chat may also be integrated. You can even sync your Google Voice number to your existing phone numbers. This way, you never again have to worry about changing your number or being unorganized with multiple phones and voicemails. Everything can be integrated into one. But lets get back to the Ipad….

While you obviously cannot make cellular calls with your Ipad, you can initiate calls with the new Click2Call feature. You simply sync your phone with your Ipad, click the button inside of Google voice, and your phone will begin to ring and your call will be connected. But what if I want to communicate directly with my Ipad? Google voice even uses a text messaging system which you can do directly from your Ipad… for free! To download the application, just visit the Apple App store. All you need to sign up is a valid Google voice account. Personally, I have not been able to test the App on the Ipad just yet. But hopefully (*cough* – mom and dad – *cough*) things will be different …after Christmas sales.
